Helen Sazen, 94, of Endicott, passed into the care of the Lord and the Blessed Mother Mary on March 2, 2018. Helen was predeceased by her sister and life- long companion, Antoinette (Gennaro) Izzo, sisters Angelina (Bruno) Scordino, Rose (Nick) Alessi, Ida (Don) Hinman, and brother Bill (Peggy) Sazen. Helen also lost her beloved niece, Victoria Nicholas, and Vicky’s husband Robert. She was loved as another parent by their children Diana Miller, Gerald (Linda) Nicholas, Gina (Joseph) Ruscitto, Roberta (Robert) Garris, Daniel (Linda) Nicholas, Christopher (Kelli) Nicholas, and Anthony (Nancy) Nicholas, and their 12 children. Helen was devoted to her large extended family, and was always a caring presence in their lives. Helen was a mentor, friend, and support to everyone, and ensured that every Christmas, birthday, or family event was remembered with love and generosity. Blessed with amazing strength, a keen mind, and a courageous spirit, she lived a full life, had a successful career at IBM, and supported multiple charities. Helen was an active member of St. Ambrose’s Church, and lived her faith with kindness and honor. Helen was often found saying her well-loved rosaries for family and friends. Helen was an outspoken advocate for the rights of the elderly to live with dignity and respect. The family extends warm gratitude to Nancy Evans, Alanna Bowman, Lourdes Hospice, and friend Betty Hennessy. The family will receive family and friends on March 17, 2018, at 12:00 pm at St. Ambrose Church, Endicott, NY. A Memorial Mass will follow at 1:00 pm. The family encourages a visit to an elderly relative, friend, or nursing home resident, as a remembrance of our beloved Aunt Helen.
