Harriet "Hattie" Macinski, 92 passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 27th, 2024. Harriet was predeceased by her husband John Macinski (1990) her daughter Jodie Shantz (2018) her grandchildren Ryan and Tricia Katz and her great granddaughter Lucy Muse. She is survived by a son Michael Macinski a daughter and son in law Pamela and Robert Evans and a son in law David Shantz along with 9 grandchildren Katrina Macinski, Laura and Nate Cleary, Douglas and Betania Katz, Bethany and Thomas Maher III, Michael and Stacy Shantz, Kacie Shantz, and Kristi and Kevin Muse. Her great grandchildren Brayden Macinski, Ashley, Justin and Noah Katz, Ava Maher, Benjamin, Isabelle and Jack Shantz, Natali and Nicholas Muse. Harriet was the director of the Graduate Admissions Office at SUNY Binghamton where she helped many students achieve their educational goals. She was also an ambassador at the Kentucky International Airport where she enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. Harriet loved to travel and saw many parts of the world. She was involved in many volunteer activities including Tall Stacks Riverboats, the Theater, and others as well as donating to many different charities. Harriet loved her family and was always there to help. She had a passion for animals, particularly dogs and especially her beloved pet, Benji. Friends and family are invited to visit J.F. Rice Funeral Home, 150 Main St, Johnson City, NY from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Monday April 8th. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday April 9th at 10:00 am at St. James Catholic Church 147 Main St. Johnson City. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
