David James Dopp, 88, of Binghamton, New York, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Mercy House in Endicott, New York. Born in Johnson City, he lived most of his life in the Binghamton and Endicott area. He was the 11th generation of a family that immigrated to new world in 1690. He lived long and well enough to see its 14th generation. David Dopp was a life time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City serving as an Elder, Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a long time member of the Johnson City Lions Club and Union Endicott School Board. He coached youth baseball for over 20 years. He was employed by General Electric Corporation for 19 years and New York State Electric & Gas for 22 years. He was a graduate of Johnson City High School, Broome Community College and attended Harpur College. He was respected, steady and honest; never complaining even in declining health. He often said: "be always kind and good" which was more than a quip but something he lived. He was a role model. David is survived by his wife Mary Jane, and his children Debbie Shoen and husband Vaughn, David Dopp and wife Karen, Darren Dopp and wife Sandy, and Doug Dopp and wife Cece. His extended family includes children Liz Georgia and husband Damon, Meg Kramer and Bill Mitchell.
