Beatrice M. Godbout

Beatrice M. (Bette) Godbout, 97, of Johnson City, NY entered into the arms of our Lord on July 11, 2022. She joins Leo her beloved husband of 58 years. Bette was predeceased by her parents Dennis and Rose Dempsey, sister, Margaret (Bill) Shannahan, brothers, John (Betty), Bill (Helen) Dempsey, son-in-law, Andy Clarke and grandson, Jordan Godbout. She is survived by her loving children: Patty Clarke, Michael (Phyllis), Jim, Sharon (Jerry) Gosney, Vince (Cathy), Kathy (Dennis) Novitske; grandchildren: Patrick (Lisa), Jennifer (Aaron), Michelle (Mike), Colleen (Mike), Kevin (Katelyn), Dennis (Gina), Tommy (Laura), Megan (Jason), Abby (Mat), Jessica, Tyler, Katie (Al), Jerome, Dan, Carolyn (Dan), Patrick, Allyson (Mike), Elizabeth (Colin), Bryan, Steven, Maggie, and was also blessed with 25 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Bette was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School and began her secretarial career at IBM. She then married Leo and was dedicated to raising her family. She later returned to work as the parish secretary at St. James where she worked for over 20 years and was a very active member of the parish. Mom’s greatest gift was being a loving mother and grandmother. Her faith and family were the center of her life.  She was proud of her Irish heritage and cherished family gatherings, especially her legendary Friday wine night.  We were blessed to have a mother who loved, laughed, and lived life to the fullest. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at St. James Church on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 9:30-10:30am. A funeral mass will follow at 10:30. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to St. James Church, 147 Main St, Johnson City, NY 13790 in memory of Bette Godbout.
