Ellen L. Hoag

Ellen Lorraine Vasil Hoag, 92, of Binghamton, went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Seymour;  her parents Ellen and Clinton Barber;  her brothers Budd and Donald (Beverly), sister Francis Louise, and many sisters and brothers-in-law.  She was born in Newark Valley.
    Left to carry on her legacy are her daughters, Linda Gilmore (Thomas), Nancy Bettencourt (John), Sharon Shadduck, son Stanley Vasil (Patty), nephew Donald Barber (Anne), niece Anita Buff (Mike), nephew Bob VanGorder (Joan), sisters-in-law Shirley Vasil, Carol Lyons (Bob Short) and Marilyn DeVita (Ron).
    Ellen retired after 20 years of service from Good-Shepard Fairview Home where she made lasting friendships.  She especially enjoyed many conversations with her good friend, Clara Linville.
    Ellen will be remembered for her unconditional love for family and friends along with her strong faith.  She was a great listener and could always be relied on for comforting advice and big bear hugs.  She treasured her grandchildren:  Sasha Flynn (Michael), Sara Gonzalez (Anthony), Gretchen Hiscock (Ian), Austin and Brooke Shadduck, Lauren and Lisa Bettencourt, Stanley Vasil (Tasha) and Adonika Boehm.  Ellen also took pride in her great grandchildren:  Jacob and Sophia Flynn, Adam Hiscock, Stanley Jonathan Vasil (Emma), Jason Vasil, Darius Boehm and Cailie Tyson.
    Due to COVID 19 restrictions, Ellen’s life will be celebrated in the spring.  A Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Church in J. C.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
