Phillip F. Casiuk

Phillip F. Casiuk, a disabled veteran of Korean Conflict, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 25, 2021, surrounded by his family.  Phillip, as he was known to many, was born April 18, 1930, and is survived by his 4 children, Phillip J (Joanne), Mark (Paula), Cynthia (Joseph) and Teresa (Rob), as well as a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In memory, of David and Michael. 

After the war, our father returned home and spent 69 years with our mother (now pre-ceased passing away only 6 months ago) Shirley Miller and they were married on May 31, 1952 – together, they built a beautiful life together.  Dad (hardest working man I know and will forever looked up to him for his strong work ethic), was a supervisor at Kohler Manufacturing (30 years), then spent (10 years) with the Binghamton Post Office before retiring at 62 years old.  My parents traveled for next 20 years (Hawaii, Las Vegas (loved his poker), Nashville, Branson as my father shared my mother’s love of country music.  In addition to traveling, my father continued to work endlessly doing what he loved “Upholstery” (he was one of the best in the area). 

Cherished memories growing up on the South Side of Binghamton (over 45 years then moving to Hillcrest in 1999).  Our family spent the first two weeks of July in Tupper Lake, NY for decades. Our dad always wearing a white t-shirt and fishing with my brothers on the lake.  He was a long-time sportsman, hunting and making his venison spiedies. He loved to cook on the grill, make strawberry shortcake, homemade apple roll and fried chicken. 

Phillip’s family will have a private memorial service on Thursday, July 1st at St. Paul’s Church (a long- time member) and will be followed by a gun salute at Calvary Cemetery where he will join my mother and two brothers. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Broome County Veterans Service Agency, 60 Hawley Street, Binghamton NY 13902. 

Love you Dad – you were always there for all your children through our ups and downs, and forever grateful.
