November 14th, 1940 – July 1st, 2022 Robert Ruby passed away at his home on July 1st, 2022. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and family to everyone. He was a legend in the community that never met a stranger and would go out of his way to help anyone. Bob was predeceased by his wife of many years, Alice June Ruby. He is survived by three sons, Joseph A. Ruby of New York, Robert A. Ruby of North Carolina, and Scott D. Ruby of South Carolina, and his sisters, Ann Logue and Phyllis Bridges of Pennsylvania. Bob is also survived by many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, In-Laws, family and friends. Bob was born in Cumberland, MD, the son of Sherman and Clarissa Ruby and later the Step-son of the late Paul James. Bob retired from the U.S. Army and the New York Army National Guard. He served in the Army from 1962-1965 as a member of the Nuclear Missile Defense System in Alaska and later in the New York Army National Guard from 1980-2000 where he retired as a Non-Commissioned Officer with the 204th Engineer Battalion as a Combat Heavy Equipment Mechanic. A celebration of life gathering will be held at Bobs home in Chenango Forks on Wednesday July 6th from 6-8 pm. Visitation will be at the Adams Family Funeral Home in Cumberland MD from 6-8pm, Friday, July 7th. Bob will be laid to rest at the Church of Seven Dolors near his childhood home in Clearville, PA.
